How to Earn Bonus:

  1. Request an offer code online by providing your email address.
  2. Open a new Chase Total Checking account either online or in-person by the offer stated expiration date.
  3. Set up direct deposit and have your first direct deposit made to this account within 90 days of account opening.
  4. The $200 bonus will be deposited into your account within 10 business days after completing the above checking requirements.

How to Waive Monthly Fee:
Chase Total Checking has a $12 monthly service fee that can be waived with one of the following actions:

  • Have monthly direct deposits totaling $500 or more each statement period, OR
  • Maintain a balance of $1,500 or more at the beginning of each day, OR
  • Maintain an average beginning day balance of $5,000 or more in any combination of this account plus other linked qualifying Chase checking and savings accounts.

Chase Total Checking is Chase's most popular checking account. It's a basic checking account without any perks, but it's pretty easy to waive the monthly service fee. It includes features such as:

  • Free debit card with chip technology
  • Mobile check deposits by snapping a photo
  • Free online bill pay
  • Send and receive money through QuickPay with Zelle
  • No fee for Overdraft Protection transfer when you link a Chase Savings account
  • Text banking to check balances and transaction history
  • Custom account alerts via text, email, or push notifications
  • Cardless ATM withdrawals


  • The checking offer is not available to existing Chase checking customers, or those whose accounts have been closed within 90 days or closed with a negative balance.
  • A qualifying direct deposit must be an electronic deposit coming from either an employer or the government in the form of a paycheck, pension, or benefits like Social Security.
  • If you close the checking account within 6 months after opening, Chase will deduct the bonus amount at closing.
  • You can receive only one new checking account-related bonus every two years from the last enrollment date and only one bonus per account.
  • Bonus is considered interest and will be taxable.
