How to Contact DIRECTV

DIRECTV offers around-the-clock tech support, which is good news for late-night TV watchers who suddenly experience technical issues outside of business hours. If you have general customer service inquiries, though, you'll have slightly more limited hours to contact customer service. But they offer a fairly robust support section that answers most of the commonly asked customer service questions, which may put your mind at ease until you can contact customer service yourself.

Use the following methods to get in touch with DIRECTV based on your needs and method of contact:

  • Phone support: If you have general customer service questions, call 1-800-531-5000. Representatives are available between 8 AM and midnight Eastern Time, 7 days a week. If you are in need of technical support, though, techs are available 24/7.

  • Ordering DIRECTV over the phone: If you want to call and order DIRECTV, call 1-855-976-6355.

  • Order DIRECTV online: You can also order DIRECTV online by clicking here. You'll need to enter your zip code and email (optional) to see the packages available in your area.

    Do you live in a condo, apartment, or townhome? DIRECTV may have to make structural modifications to your home or apartment when installing the satellite. Before the technician can make such changes, they will need approval from the landlord or association. To prevent a delay in the installation of your equipment, have the Installation Permission Form completed for the technician.

  • Chat: DIRECTV offers the option to chat with a customer service representative online. Click here and look for the blue "Chat Available" button to start the conversation.

  • Online support: DIRECTV offers a database of frequently asked questions that you can browse by entering your keywords here.

Watch out for the Early Termination Fees: DIRECTV requires a 24-month service agreement for all of their offers. If you terminate your contract early, you may owe a $20 per month fee for each month left in the contract, along with additional fees.

Scheduling Your DIRECTV Installation or Service Appointments: DIRECTV makes it easy to schedule your installation appointments right when you order the service. If you order online, the final step is setting up your installation appointment.

You can also change your service appointments online in your DIRECTV account online. Click on "My Orders & Service Calls" in the main menu after logging into your account. You will find your appointment(s) in this window. You can then reschedule or cancel the appointment as necessary. You can also track your appointment for service or installation in your account.
