Looking to transfer money in or out of your Ally account? You'll need the right routing number. Find your Ally routing number and learn more about money transfers in our guide.

Routing numbers are 9-digit numbers that banks use to identify themselves. Think of them as an address that lets other banks know where to find your money.

You need your routing number for many tasks, including:

  • ACH payments
  • Setting up direct deposit
  • Receiving benefits from the government, including tax refunds
  • Transferring money between accounts at different banks or investment firms
  • Automatic bill payment
  • Domestic wire transfers

Many banks have more than one routing number, especially those with branches in more than one state. But Ally is a little different. Read on to learn more.

Ally Bank Routing Numbers by Account Number

Because Ally is an online bank with no physical branches, all customer bank accounts use the same ABA routing number.

The routing number for all Ally bank checking and savings accounts is: 124003116.

Breaking down your routing number
The first four digits pertain to the Federal Reserve. The next four digits are unique to your bank. Consider those the bank's address for the Federal Reserve. The final digit is a mathematical calculation of the first eight digits—it's used to prevent check fraud.

How to Find Your Ally Bank Account Number

When making an ACH transfer or wire transfer, you'll also need your Ally Bank account number. Here are three ways to find it.

  • Use a Check
You can find the account number on the bottom of the checks corresponding with your checking account. It's the long series of digits located to the right of the 9-digit routing number.

  • Go Online
Log into the Ally Bank online portal. Click Show next to Account Number to reveal yours. When you're done, click Hide to mask your full account number.

  • Call Customer Service
If you don't have online checking or a check handy, call Ally Bank customer service at 1-877-247-2559. After you provide a few details to identify yourself, a representative will be able to help you locate your account information.

You'll need more than just your routing numbers for some types of transactions. Keep reading to learn more.

Which Ally Bank Routing Number Should You Use?
For any money transfer activity or wire transfer, use the Ally Bank ABA routing number 124003116.

Routing Numbers for Domestic/International Wire Transfers

Wire transfers are a faster way to send money than an ACH transfer, but they typically cost a fee. Friends, family, or even businesses can wire funds to your Ally Bank account.

To wire funds with a personal Ally Bank account, fill out the online wire transfer form after signing into your account. Or you can fax a completed domestic wire transfer request form to Ally at 1-866-608-2635.

Currently, Ally Bank customers can receive domestic and international wires but can only send domestic wires.

  • Address: 200 West Civic Center Drive, Sandy, UT 84070

  • Beneficiary Account Number: Your Ally Bank Account Number

Is There a Routing Number on Your Debit or Credit Card?
Although your debit card is associated with a bank account, you do not use a routing number for debit card transactions. Routing numbers are only used for transfers directly between bank accounts.

Likewise, credit cards do not have routing numbers since they are not directly linked to any bank account. When you pay your credit card online, you may need to use your bank account routing number to set up the link between your credit card account and checking account, like you would for any other bill.

Bottom Line

You'll likely need your Ally Bank routing number when managing your finances. Keep it on hand should you need to set up a direct deposit, automatic payment, or wire transfer.
