Tips and Tricks to Save Money at Zazzle

If you are in the market for unique, personalized items, Zazzle is a great source for one-stop shopping. With a huge variety of home décor, accessories, clothing, and more, Zazzle has a ton of options, whether you want to make your own T-shirts, one-of-a-kind party favors or even a paper plate with your photo on it. Zazzle is made up of smaller shops run by individual artists, or “makers,” who provide a huge variety of styles and designs.

Worried you’ll have to spend too much to get a personalized product? With these tips, you will get the best deal when you order from Zazzle.

How to Save at Zazzle

  • Sign up for Zazzle Black. For just $9.95 a year, you’ll get unlimited free shipping, or for $39.95 a year, you can get items even quicker, with unlimited free two-day shipping. Both versions also come with exclusive access to sales. Shipping is charged per item and depends on the size of the item, which means shipping costs can add up quickly; Zazzle Black can pay for itself in just one order. You can also sign up for a free 30-day trial if you are placing a large order but don’t want to commit to the service.

  • Order in bulk. The larger the quantity you buy of an item, the larger the discount. For example, ordering 25 invitations saves 15%, but ordering 100 invitations saves 40%. The same is true for shirts, mugs, and most other items. Note that if you are personalizing an item and ordering in bulk, this means the same personalization applies to each item (customizing one item at a time will cost you more per item). You can also combine bulk items across multiple stores and sellers to get the discount. For example, ordering two mugs from one store and 10 from another would combine to get you a bulk rate for ordering 12 mugs.

  • Use coupon codes. Zazzle nearly always has coupon codes, ranging from a percentage off your entire order to a percentage off certain product areas, such as invitations, shirts, or home décor. Coupon codes can be stacked, so you could use a code for 40% off stickers and a 20% off your entire purchase code for great deals.

  • Sort by popularity. When searching for an item, it can be overwhelming to see all the results. Sorting the search results by popularity will (in theory) provide you with the highest quality designs. After all, those products are popular for a reason. Remember that the product the design is printed on is the same for every seller, meaning the same apron is used for every design. What really matters is the design and the seller you purchase from.

  • Search for specifics. With so many items and sellers to choose from, it can take a while to find the perfect product. Add more terms to your search to narrow the results and you’ll be more likely to find the perfect product. For example, searching on “dog tags” will yield thousands of results, but searching on “retriever dog tags with picture” narrows things down to a manageable size.

  • Follow Zazzle on social media. Aside from announcing sales, new products, and coupon codes on social media, Zazzle also does frequent promotions and contests for store credit or free products.

  • Subscribe to emails. Zazzle sends better coupon codes and exclusive sales to people who sign up for their emails.

When to Shop at Zazzle

  • Around holidays. Many of Zazzle’s products are seasonal and go on sale in the month surrounding the holiday. For example, July 4th décor and accessories will be on sale and have a coupon code in the weeks before the holiday, but act fast—Zazzle tends to take away the discount right before the holiday, which means last-minute shoppers will pay full price.

  • Before wedding season. Many of Zazzle’s products can be personalized and used for weddings. Popular wedding seasons are June and September, and there are big sales a few months before those times, generally around April and July.

What to Buy at Zazzle

  • Party favors and bulk gifts. With its free personalization and bulk discounts, Zazzle is a great source for party favors and bulk gifts. For example, ordering shirts for 12 bridesmaids brings an automatic 10% discount and ordering 100 party favor boxes brings a 20% discount.

  • Personalized items. Personalization is free on all items at Zazzle, a rarity for similar products. Take advantage by putting a personal touch on the items you purchase.

  • Licensed products. Zazzle has partnerships with a number of licensed brands, such as movie characters and video games. Licensed items are typically expensive and not often discounted when purchased from other retailers. With its free personalization and coupon codes, you can score amazing deals on licensed products.

What Not to Buy at Zazzle

  • Business cards. Printed paper goods aren’t Zazzle’s forte, but its worst track record is with business cards. The template selection is decent, but the print quality is unreliable. There are lots of other sites that print cheap business cards with much higher quality.

  • Heavy items. Zazzle calculates shipping costs per item based on the size and weight, which can turn a great deal into an average deal with the added cost. For example, large items like canvas art prints and dog beds have shipping costs that start at $13.99 per item. If you want a heavier item and plan to use the retailer a few times a year, purchasing Zazzle Black is the cheapest option.
