Tips and Tricks to Save Money at CafePress

Do you want to save money and support independent businesses? Read on to learn how to score the best deals at CafePress without paying full price.

How to Get the Best Deals at CafePress

  • Sign up for emails. Create a CafePress account and subscribe to emails to get exclusive offers and early notice of sales and promotions. New customers also get a free item (usually a mug) after their first purchase.

  • Use a coupon code. CafePress has a lot of coupon codes available at any given time. Deals include a percentage off your entire purchase or a certain type of item.

  • Follow on social media. CafePress regularly posts promotions and sales on their Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as announcements of one-day only sales.

  • Buy from established shop owners. You’ll likely get a more professional and higher quality graphic when you buy from shop owners who have established themselves on CafePress. Before ordering anything, go to the shop owner’s profile (by clicking on their name) and seeing how many likes and followers they have. Although all CafePress designs are printed on the same products (i.e., every white mug is the same but with a different design), so the most creative products easily stand out.

  • Buy in bulk. In general, the more custom items you buy at once, the cheaper each item costs. For example, buying 12 shirts costs around $12 a shirt, but ordering 50 shirts drops the price to around $10.50 per shirt. Some items might not have a bulk discount or it might not automatically be reflected in your shopping cart; contact the individual seller to see what they can do for you.

  • Bundle orders. Shipping costs are based on the amount of items and their size and weight. Bundle multiple items into one order to avoid paying separate shipping costs for each order. For example, economy shipping for one mug is $6.49, but the price goes up only $1 for every mug added to your order. Note that if you order more than 5 items, economy shipping isn’t an option, which means the least expensive option is then standard shipping. Also keep in mind that canvas and framed art has a flat shipping rate of $14.95.

When to Shop at CafePress

  • Around holidays. Because so many of CafePress’ items are seasonal, shopping around holidays is a big deal. In the weeks before a holiday such as Valentine’s Day or Halloween, seasonal items may go on sale for 15-20% off. Pair the sale with a coupon code for deep discounts.

  • Weekends. CafePress occasionally runs flash sales, which generally only last for a day or two on a Friday or Saturday. These sales are usually announced on social media and can offer 15-25% off your entire purchase.

What to Buy at CafePress

  • Unique items. CafePress offers a large selection of items that can’t be found anywhere else, such as wine charms and shower curtains. If you find a design you like, use it on a unique product, as this could be your one chance for that unique gift.

  • Promoted items. Items featured on CafePress’ main page or in their gift guides tend to be from CafePress designers or highly skilled individual designers. Ordering a featured product helps guarantee the design will be high quality and professional, and that you haven’t wasted your precious dollars.

  • Canvas artwork. CafePress is an excellent source of unique art and individual pieces from around the world. Although CafePress sellers set their own prices, most canvas artwork is very reasonably priced and lets you have a custom piece of art in your home without breaking the bank.

  • Tablet and phone covers. The large selection of tablet and phone covers is lower priced, on average, than similar products at other stores. There are many designs to choose from, which are all printed on high quality, durable cases.
