A credit score of 650-700 is considered Above Average to Good. Find good credit cards you can qualify for in this score range.

What Is a Credit Score of 650-700?

This range spans the Average and Good credit score categories. An Average score is usually 551-669, while a Good score goes up to 719. So this range is considered Above Average to Good.

A score in this range may mean:

  • A credit history of 1-3 years.

  • No recent late payments.

  • Usually pay in full.

In this range, you'll still be able to qualify for good rewards cards and benefits, although the elite credit cards may be out of your reach.

You can qualify for better cards if you have other factors in your favor, such as overall low debt, good income, and not too many open card accounts.

Read on for the top credit cards to consider.

Travel Rewards

Capital One Venture
If your score is closer to 699, you can try for a travel rewards card. The Capital One Venture may be a little easier to get than other premier travel rewards cards.

With double points on all purchases, Global Entry application credit, and a selection of airline partners, the Venture is a solid travel card for a modest annual fee.

Capital One Venture offers 75,000 bonus miles when you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months. This card earns 2 miles per dollar on all purchases. There are no foreign transaction fees. You get up to $100 credit for Global Entry or TSA Pre✓®. There is a $95 annual fee.

Cash Back (higher credit)

Chase Freedom Unlimited
Chase Freedom Unlimited usually requires a Good credit score of 680+. However, some users have reported being approved with a credit score as low as 650.

This will depend on other factors. If you have no other debt and a great payment history, your approval odds will be much higher.

This card has a long intro APR—usually a perk for those with better credit scores. And there is no annual fee.

Chase Freedom Unlimited lets you earn an extra 1.5% on everything you buy (on up to $20,000 spent in the first year) — worth up to $300 cash back. That's 6.5% on travel purchased through Chase Travel, 4.5% on dining and drugstores, and 3% on all other purchases.

After your first year or $20,000 spent, enjoy 5% cash back on travel purchased through Chase Travel, 3% cash back on drugstore purchases and dining at restaurants, including takeout and eligible delivery service, and unlimited 1.5% cash back on all other purchases. The cash back rewards will not expire as long as your card account remains open. There is also a 0% intro APR for 15 months from account opening on purchases and balance transfers, then a variable APR of 20.49% - 29.24%. There is no annual fee.

Cash Back (lower credit)

Capital One QuicksilverOne
If your credit score is closer to 650, look to Capital One QuicksilverOne instead. You still earn a flat-rate cash back on every purchase, but there is an annual fee.

It's difficult to find reward cards for lower credit scores, so this is a great option. As long as you spend at least $217/month on the credit card, your rewards will outweigh the annual fee.

Capital One QuicksilverOne earns 1.5% cash back on all purchases. There is a $39 annual fee.

Up to 5% Cash Back

Discover It
Discover may have slightly lower credit requirements for their cards. Many Discover It users report have credit scores in the 650-699 range.

Discover It offers the potential for high cash back with no annual fee. Discover cards have no foreign transaction fees, so they also make good travel cards.

Discover It will match all the cash back you've earned at the end of your first year. This offer is only for new customers. This card earns 5% cash back in bonus categories that change each quarter (up to the quarterly maximum; requires free activation each quarter). All other purchases earn 1% cash back.

Build Credit

Capital One Platinum
The Capital One Platinum is a basic credit card with no bells or whistles. It has no rewards and no intro APR, but also no annual fee.

This card allows those with lower credit scores to get an unsecured credit card. You can use it to build credit and later upgrade to a rewards card.

Capital One Platinum offers a no annual fee credit card to people with fair credit.

Bottom Line

There are still plenty of good options for the 650-699 credit score range. Other positive factors, like no missed payments or higher income, may quality you for better cards. This credit score range still has room for improvement. Keep on making payments on time and reducing your credit card debt. Soon, you'll be able to upgrade to one of the premium reward cards.
