Tips and Tricks to Save Money at FootSmart
Relieve your feet and soothe your wallet with tips for shopping at FootSmart.com, which specializes in shoes and accessories designed to help with foot problems.
How to Get the Best Deals at FootSmart
- Sign up for emails. FootSmart email subscribers are regularly sent exclusive deals and early notification of sales.
- Follow on social media. FootSmart posts all of its sales and coupon codes on Facebook and Twitter. Follow them on social media to be one of the first to know about the best deals.
- Use a coupon code. FootSmart usually has coupon codes available, typically for a percentage off your total purchase or a percentage off purchases of a certain amount. Most codes are for 15-25% off; anything better than that is a rare deal.
- Spend more to save more. Many of FootSmart’s sales and coupon codes are tiered, meaning you get a larger discount for spending more money. For example, a recent coupon code offered $10 off a purchase of $125 or more, but another coupon code offered $60 off a purchase of $300 or more. Pool your items during a tiered sale to save as much as possible.
- Shop clearance. FootSmart has a large selection of clearance items in a variety of styles and sizes. Although most coupon codes don’t apply to clearance items, you can still get prices up to 60% off retail.
- Bundle items. Shipping is based on the order total, meaning you’ll pay higher fees for a more expensive order. Avoid paying multiple shipping fees by combining multiple items into one order. It is cheaper to place one $20 order ($6.99 standard shipping) than to place two $10 orders ($5.99 standard shipping per order). Another reason to be patient with making your order: FootSmart frequently offers coupon codes for free or discounted shipping for large purchases or specific items; if you aren’t in a rush to get your items, it could pay to wait for those sales.
- Use a cash back site. Create a free account on a cash back site to get back a portion of the money you spend online. TopCashback offers 12% cash back on FootSmart purchases and Ebates offers 6%. To activate, simply log in to your cash back account, then click the link to get to FootSmart and have your purchase information tracked.
- Return carefully. Buying shoes online can be tricky, and it will cost you to return items to FootSmart. You can either mail items on your own or purchase a prepaid return label from the website. Depending on the size of your return package, it may be cheaper to pay for postage yourself and send the package with a slower, less expensive carrier.
When to Shop at FootSmart
- July and December. FootSmart’s mid-season sales typically give you a discount of 25% off seasonal items, which means sandals and summer shoes are discounted in July and boots are discounted in December. Pair the sale with a coupon code for deep discounts.
- End of season. FootSmart offers additional discounts on seasonal items as the weather begins to change, usually with a coupon code for an additional 15-25% off clearance and sometimes free shipping. Look for summer items around September and winter items around March.
- Weekends. Shorter sales and promotions typically run over weekends and tend to be associated with holidays, such as Presidents’ Day and Memorial Day. These sales are announced on social media and sent to email subscribers.
What to Buy at FootSmart
- SmartBuys. The SmartBuy section features a variety of items that are on sale for a limited time only. Birkenstock sandals in the SmartBuy section have been nearly $30 cheaper than most competitors, and we’ve seen running shoes $10 cheaper. The selection of SmartBuy items can be random, but it pays to check the section before making a purchase.
- FootSmart brand accessories. FootSmart has its own brand of shoes, but the best deals and quality come in the FootSmart brand of accessories, including inserts, cushions, and bunion relievers. With a great selection and high product quality, these products are definitely worth the price, especially when purchasing with a coupon code.
- Foot health items. Although it is possible to find a better deal on items like arch supporters, callus cushions, and medicated foot baths from other places, FootSmart offers products that are higher quality than much of what you’ll find in more general stores. Plus, their site is designed to guide you through the buying process to find the exact product to solve your foot problems.
What Not to Buy at FootSmart
- Clarks brand. Known for its comfort and quality, Clarks shoes are popular and tend to be on the more expensive side. FootSmart’s Clarks prices are generally $10-$30 higher than the exact same item from another store.
- Compression socks. FootSmart offers a variety of compression socks for all kinds of needs. While the selection is impressive, similar items can be found much cheaper with similar quality at big box stores. The only exception is compression socks for a very specific or rare condition, when it is worth spending more to get the right product.
- Running shoes. Although the selection is robust, FootSmart’s running shoes are rarely discounted, resulting in prices that are on average much higher than the competition. Good deals can occasionally be found in the clearance section, but in general, name brand running shoes can be found at a lower price elsewhere.
