Finding study time within 40-hour work weeks, kids, and family duties may seem impossible. But Wiley CPAexcel can help.

It's a self-study program, so you don't have to worry about missing classes or getting behind. Use their video lecture series to study on your own terms.

Who Should Use Wiley CPAexcel Review?

If these scenarios describe you, then Wiley CPAexcel may be a smart investment.

  • You want to take as long as necessary to study.
Wiley CPAexcel offers Partner Until You Pass. You don't have to worry about meeting deadlines or forking over more money to renew the program.

Take your time and find the study habits that work best for your schedule.

  • You like to study while away from home.
Wiley's companion mobile app makes it easy to do some review or even learn new content.

Rather than lugging around a textbook and trying to focus, you can use the app whenever you have a few spare minutes on your hands.

  • You like mnemonics and focus notes
Wiley provides focus notes and helpful acronyms in both print and e-book version.

These may help you fully master topics requiring memorization rather than technique.

Reasons We Like Wiley CPAexcel Review

  • Access to more than 12,000 multiple choice and 500 task-based questions.
The sheer number of practice questions means you can retake the exams without getting the same exact questions each time.

After all, you want to master the topic, not just memorize certain answers.

  • The lessons are concise.
We all had that one rambling professor who put us to sleep. You don't have to worry about that with the Wiley CPAexcel videos.

They are short and to the point, with many of the lessons taking up only 30-45 minutes of your time.

  • Free online updates. You won't pay for updated information when regulations change or when you don't take the exam by year's end.

No matter how long it takes, you'll always have access to updated information.

  • The free trial.
Wiley offers a 14-day trial with access, which should be enough time to decide whether the program is right for you.

How much material does Wiley CPAexcel offer?
    With Wiley, you get:
    • 370 pages of online study text
    • 24 hours of video instruction
    • 1,200 multiple choice questions
    • 40 task-based questions
    • Nearly 1,000 flashcards and knowledge checks.

  • Separate study guide for each exam.
You can focus on the information you haven't mastered and occasionally review the material that you've mastered.

  • The mobile app.
The companion app provides access to 140 hours of video lectures. You can even watch online. This makes it easier for you to study while you are on the go.

FYI: You can access a huge library with 10,000 multiple-choice questions and 4,000 digital flashcards through the mobile app.

  • Answers to your questions from professors.
Enter your own question and receive a response in 48 hours. Or search the database to see if your question was already answered.

Either way, you receive the information from a subject-expert professor.

  • Customizable study calendar.
Wiley's program creates the "ideal" study calendar for you. But if something pops up at the last minute, you can make the necessary changes and still monitor your progress.

  • They believe in flashcards.
Some CPA review programs don't offer flashcards. They leave it up to you to make your own, which can take up precious study time.

Wiley provides access to digital flashcards with your purchase. You can also buy printed flashcards as a supplement if you like having the physical cards.

  • Custom assessments.
Create your assessment based on areas you need to work on or choose a specific type of question (MCQ or task-based).

FYI: WIley CPAexcel lets you choose the number of assessment questions. This allows you to take mini-exams when you only have a little study time.

Reasons You May Want to Look Elsewhere

  • The video lectures aren't very engaging.
The videos may be short and sweet, but they tend to be a little boring. This can make it hard to keep motivated when you have 300 - 400 hours of studying ahead of you.

  • No live classes or live discussions.
You are on your own with your studies. Watch the videos and complete the tests when you think you are ready.

If you aren't a self-starter, you may want a program that offers live classes/discussions to keep you on track.

  • Wiley doesn't offer an audio review.
If you like to listen to the material one more time before you sit for the exam, you won't find it with Wiley.

You'll need to retake the whole practice exam section and another assessment. Or you can put yourself through the videos again.

How It Compares

Becker: One of the most expensive CPA review programs on the market. Becker only gives you a limited time to pass the CPA exam, whereas Wiley offers Partner Until You Pass.

Becker also gives you fewer practice questions. But it does offer different class formats. You can choose the one that's right for you, rather than simply watching videos.

Roger CPA Review: Unless you buy the most expensive package, Roger CPA doesn't give you unlimited access. You have either 18 months or 24 months to pass the exam.

Roger CPA Review offers half of the practice questions that Wiley does. But Roger includes audio lectures and study books, which can be the answer for those who prefer audio learning.

Gleim: Just like Wiley, Gleim offers unlimited access until you pass the exam. It doesn't offer flashcards, which can be a deal breaker for those who love that sort of review.

Unlike Wiley, Gleim offers audio lectures, which can be good for the audio learner. They does not have a mobile app, though.

Bottom Line

Trying to pass the CPA exam with your busy lifestyle? Wiley CPAexcel may offer you the resources you need.

You study when you can and take the exam when you feel ready. And don't worry about running out of time or being tied to specific classes.

On the other hand, if you prefer live instruction and a more rigid schedule, though, you may want to look elsewhere.
