You pay that much for satellite radio? Here's a little-known way to save money on your SiriusXM subscription.

SiriusXM offers 150+ channels of commercial-free satellite radio for your car, home, or mobile device. Unlike with traditional radio, you need to subscribe to listen and the plans can get pricey.

Keep reading to learn how much SiriusXM will actually cost you.

How much is a subscription to SiriusXM?

SiriusXM offers several satellite radio packages for your car. Here are the most popular:

  • Mostly Music, $10.99/month
The plan offers 80+ channels of music with some news and talk options. Not all the channels are commercial-free. You can add online or mobile streaming from your home or smartphone for $5/month.

  • Select, $15.99/month
You'll get 165+ commercial-free channels of music, sports, news, and more, plus online and mobile streaming from your home or smartphone. This plan also offers access to SiriusXM's video through the web or mobile app.

  • All Access, $20.99/month
The top tier features 175+ commercial-free channels, which include music channels, news, sports, entertainment, traffic, and weather available in your car, online, or through mobile. You can also access SiriusXM's video by web or mobile app.

Current Promotions
SiriusXM is now offering heavily discounted 12-month subscriptions for new customers:
  • $60 for the Select plan
  • $99 for the All Access plan

SiriusXM also offers two streaming packages for those who only listen outside their car: Essential, for $8/month, and Premier, for $13/month.

Both have a three-month introductory rate of $1/month. In addition, you can check out several specialty plans, including one for students.

SiriusXM Free Trial

SiriusXM offers a free 3-month introductory offer to its All Access plan. You'll get every commercial-free channel, plus online, mobile, and video streaming.

Your car must be equipped with an eligible satellite radio to take advantage of the deal. Simply visit the website and enter some basic information, including your car's VIN number or radio ID.

Is there a difference between Sirius and XM Radio?
Sirius, XM, and SiriusXM are three different platforms for accessing satellite radio signals. Car radios are only programmed for one platform. But most new and many recent pre-owned vehicles are compatible with SiriusXM's service.

Can you negotiate with SiriusXM?

Just because SiriusXM lists the prices of their plans doesn't mean that's what you have to pay. The best time to negotiate for a better deal is right before your plan or free trial is set to expire. Just be sure not to miss the date since most plans renew automatically.

Before you start, research the subscriptions and prices to get a sense of what you're willing to pay. Then you'll need to call and speak with a representative in the Retentions department. Show enthusiasm for the service but politely explain that the price is simply too high for your budget.

SiriusXM Phone Number
You can contact Customer Service at 1-866-635-2349 from 8 AM to 10 PM ET Monday–Friday or 8 AM to 8 PM ET Saturday and Sunday.

If you're lucky, they may offer you a reduced rate to renew your subscription or to sign up for a lesser one. But you may need to try again with another representative later.

Try not to jump at the first deal they offer—a better one may be coming. You should also be willing to temporarily cancel your service. Usually, they'll send a Welcome Back offer by email or regular mail before too long.
