There was once a father and son who liked to walk to the market with their donkey. One day, a man stopped them in their path. "Why don't you ride the donkey?" the man asked, laughing. "You're wasting energy - put that animal to use."

The father looked at his son, shrugged, and told him to ride the donkey.

After going a few more steps, the father and son were stopped by a woman. "Don't you respect your father?" she asked. "Why are you resting on that donkey when your father is older and weaker than you?"

So the man and son switched places. "That's better!" the woman said.

The father, son, and their donkey soon come across someone else eager to voice an opinion. A mother, holding a baby and groceries, gave them a dirty look and said, "Look at your poor son, having to walk in this heat while you relax!"

Bothered by the complaints, the son sat in front of his father on the donkey, and they slowly continued to the market.

A middle-aged man stepped in front of them, and yelled: "Overworking that poor animal - you disgust me!"

The father and son jumped off the donkey and apologized. "We didn't mean to!" the boy cried. Driven by guilt, they picked up the donkey and started carrying him to the market.

Just as they passed a ravine, the son stumbled. The father lost his grip, and the donkey fell into the ravine.

No matter how hard you try, you can't please everybody. Do what everyone tells you to do, without questioning their commands or motives, and you will lose out in the end.

A healthy financial life is possible only when you make choices based on knowledge. Ask questions along every step, and you will be more likely to make informed decisions.
