Which Hilton Co-Branded Card Is Right for You?

To pick the right card for you, consider the following factors.

  • How often do you travel and stay in hotels? If you only travel once or twice a year, then it doesn't make sense to get a card with an annual fee. The Hilton Honors American Express card has no annual fee (See Rates & Fees). You can slowly work your way to a free night for your next vacation, without losing any rewards to an annual fee.

  • How much do you usually spend on your credit card per year? If you spend less than $15,000 a year on your credit card, then stick with the no-annual-fee Hilton Honors. If you usually spend more than that, consider the Hilton Honors Surpass. You'll get a free Weekend Night Reward, which will more than help make up for the annual fee (See Rates & Fees).

  • Do you usually fly when you travel? If so, you may enjoy the 10 free Priority Pass lounge visits you get with the Hilton Honors Surpass. It's a nice perk that will make your trip just a little bit more comfortable.

The biggest perk with this card is that you get automatic Silver Status. With this status, you get the 5th night free if you use points to book a stay of at least 5 nights. This will help you get the most value out of this card.

If you can spend at least $15,000 a year on your card, then consider the Hilton Honors Surpass instead.

This card has an annual fee, but you get a lot of extra perks, including:

  • One Weekend Night Reward after spending $15,000 on the card in a calendar year.
  • Automatic Gold Status, which comes with perks like late checkout and room upgrades.
  • 10 free lounge visits per year to Priority Pass lounges (enrollment required).

This card is good for slightly heavier spenders and those who travel at least a few times a year. The extra perks more than justify the annual fee.

Disclaimer: The information for the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card has been collected independently by CreditDonkey. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

This card is geared towards luxury travelers. It has a steep $450 annual fee, but it offers a lot of travel credits.

  • $250 resort credit each year for eligible purchases at participating Hilton Resorts.
  • $100 property credit on qualifying charges at participating hotels each time you book a 2-night stay at HiltonHonors.com/aspirecard
  • Priority Pass Select membership, with unlimited lounge visits for you and 2 guests.
  • Automatic Diamond Status, which includes perks like 48-hour room guarantee and executive lounge access.

This seems good at first glance. But think about whether you really will use the credits. Will you really stay at a Hilton Resort (not hotel) to use the resort credit?

If you have no plans to stay at a Hilton Resort, then you won't make the best use of this card.

This card offers 6x bonus points in several popular business categories. It's also good for businesses that require a lot of travel, as you get 6x points for select travel purchases as well.

It has mostly the same benefits as the Hilton Honors Surpass personal card. But you get an additional chance to earn a 2nd free Weekend Night Reward after spending at least $60,000 in a calendar year.

It also offers business card benefits, such as Spend Manager, Connect to QuickBooks, and employee cards.

Making Your Choice

Ultimately, it comes down to how often you travel and stay in hotels.

If you're only looking to help offset some costs on your next vacation, the no-annual-fee card is worth considering. If you travel a few times a year, the Surpass offers great value for a relatively low annual fee. For the luxury travelers who like to stay in resorts, you may find that the credits are worth the hefty annual fee on the Aspire card.

Remember: as with all credit card and bank offers, terms and limitations apply.
