Before you add your next mattress to the cart, find out below what makes GhostBed different from other online mattress companies.

5 Things to Know About GhostBed Mattress

Here are 5 essential things to know about GhostBed before you buy a mattress:

What Is GhostBed Mattress?

GhostBed is an online mattress company launched in 2015 after its CEO went through multiple neck surgeries. He came up with GhostBed as a convenient bed-in-a-box solution to help with the pain.

Bed-in-a-box mattresses are compressed and rolled up in a box for easy shipment.

From that flagship model, GhostBed has since expanded to offer four mattresses, bed frames, pillows, and more.

Their mattresses include high-quality materials like latex, gel memory foam, and cooling technology. If you're unsure what that all means, don't worry. Check out the next section to find out which mattress will work with your sleep needs.

GhostBed has four mattress models. Each is designed for a different type of sleeper:

GhostBed Original: Medium-firm; Good for most sleepers
This foam mattress is on the firmer side. Because the bed isn't too soft, you won't feel like you're sinking into the mattress. This works well for most sleepers. But if you're a lightweight side sleeper, it might skew a little too firm for you.

GhostBed Flex: Medium; Good for all sleepers
This mattress is a hybrid with layers of foam on top of innerspring coils. The combination feels softer than the Original mattress but still offers plenty of support. It's great for all sleeping positions: side, back, stomach, or combination.

GhostBed Luxe: Medium-soft; Good for side and back sleepers
The Luxe mattress is a foam mattress designed for hot sleepers. It uses special foams that won't heat up as the night goes on. Because it's on the softer side, it's not the best for stomach sleepers who need extra support.

GhostBed 3D Matrix: Soft; Good for side and back sleepers
If you like the pressure relief of soft mattresses but still want a little bounce, this one's for you. This is a hybrid mattress with foam and innersprings. It's also a great choice for hot sleepers since the coils allow for more airflow.

Is GhostBed good for side sleepers? GhostBed's mattresses, especially their Luxe and 3D Matrix models, are great for side sleepers. Their medium firmness provides enough support and pressure point relief for side-sleepers to sleep comfortably through the night.

What to Expect (Delivery and Fees)

Your purchase isn't over once you click "add to cart." Here's what happens after you check out with GhostBed.

Shipping/Delivery Fees
If you just want your mattress to get to your doorstep, shipping is free within the continental U.S. ($600 to AK and HI). But if you want a delivery team to set up the mattress in your room, it costs $199. This is called "White Glove Delivery."

Sleep Trial Period
You can try out any mattress or pillow for 101 nights. The company requires you to test it for at least 30 days, since it can take a few weeks to break in any mattress. If it doesn't feel great, don't settle! You can return your mattress after that first 30 days.

Return Policy
As long as you're within the 101-night window, you can return your mattress. In the continental U.S., returns are free. But bad news for AK and HI residents: Shipping for returns will cost you another $600.

Warranty
GhostBed Original comes with a 20-year warranty. Flex, Luxe, and 3D Matrix models have a 25-year warranty. Check out their website to see exactly what each warranty covers.

Common Complaints

Mattresses are a personal choice. What works for someone else might not work for you. But it's still a good idea to see what other folks don't like before you commit to a GhostBed mattress.

Doesn't feel cool as advertised
While most GhostBed mattresses have breathable materials, some sleepers find that it's not enough. If you really struggle with sleeping hot, try a model with coils like the 3D Matrix instead of an all-foam mattress.

Most models are on the bouncy side
Bounciness might not be a bad thing for everyone. But if you sleep with a partner, you might feel when they move around at night. If you're a light sleeper, try a model without coils, like the Luxe, to minimize the motion.

Can't return mattress within first 30 days
You have to hold onto the mattress for 30 days before you return, even if you make up your mind before that. Always make sure to read the policy carefully so you don't have to deal with any surprises.

Is GhostBed toxic? Ghostbed mattresses are chemical-free and CertiPUR-US approved. This means they're made without heavy metals, formaldehyde, ozone depleters, and other harmful chemicals.

How It Compares

GhostBed vs. Saatva
Saatva specializes in more luxurious innerspring and hybrid mattresses. Their beds feature high-quality materials like organic cotton and thick, durable foams and coils. The mattresses each come in a variety of firmness levels to suit all types of sleepers.

GhostBed vs. Purple
Purple mattresses have a special gel grid top layer that really stands out from other brands. The material is gently springy but still shapes to your body to relieve pressure. Although Purple can be pricy, it's a great choice if you want a unique mattress that feels cool to the touch.

GhostBed vs. Casper
Casper is one of the most popular affordable mattresses on the market. If you're looking for a good mattress that won't break the bank, this is a great option. Casper also offers more premium hybrid mattresses so you can find a good fit at any budget.

Bottom Line

GhostBed is a great option if you're looking for a convenient bed in a box. They offer a range of products with different firmness levels, so there's something for everyone.

Their prices are a bit higher than the average for memory foam and hybrid mattresses. But they go on sale pretty often, so you can get a better deal.

No matter which mattress you end up getting, be sure to make full use of the trial period. If you don't wake up feeling refreshed and well-rested, return it. Remember, your health is important and your mattress should help you get the best sleep possible.
