Installing DISH

If you've ever had to waste your entire day waiting for cable or satellite installation, you know the agony of waiting. DISH set out to stand apart from the competition by offering a 75-minute window for installation. That's just about 3 hours less than the window that some competitors provide.

DISH takes it one step further too. They allow you to track your technician's progress in making it to your appointment. Logging into your account, you can use the My Tech feature to know exactly when the tech will reach your home. You can start this option up to one hour before the scheduled window.

Installing More than Just DISH? If you have more electronics to set up or even mount, DISH technicians can help you with the setup, often for an extra charge. They can help set up your home theater system, wireless network, or help mount your TV on the wall.

If there's one thing you want when choosing a TV provider, it's optimal customer service. We have all been there when the TV suddenly goes out just before a big play in a game or before your favorite movie is about to start. Without around-the-clock tech support, your TV provider could leave you less than pleased.

DISH tries to avoid this phenomenon by providing 24/7 tech support. This doesn't mean you have to find your answer in a FAQ somewhere on their website or watch a YouTube tutorial either. It means a live agent who will talk to you even if it's 2 AM.

That's great news for TV enthusiasts who binge-watch their favorite shows until 2 AM. However, if you have billing inquiries or other general customer service questions, you can reach an agent at the following hours:

  • Monday - Friday, 7 AM - 1 AM ET
  • Saturday - Sunday, 7:30 AM - Midnight ET

No matter your question, call 1-800-333-3474 and listen to the prompts to reach the right department.

DISH has 9 call centers, all located in the US and ready to take your call for any customer service-related issue.

Best Time to Call Customer Support: DISH recommends that you call between the hours of 2:30 PM and 6:30 PM ET for the shortest wait time.

Do you prefer to chat online with a customer service representative? DISH offers this option as well. Click on "chat" in the upper right-hand corner of their website to begin this option. You can chat with an agent whether you are a new or existing customer; just make sure you choose the appropriate box on the top of the form.

  • Monday - Friday, 7 AM - 1 AM ET
  • Saturday - Sunday, 7:30 AM - Midnight ET

New Customers to DISH

If you are not yet a customer of DISH, you have two ways to explore your options and order new service:

  • Order your service online

Managing Your Account Online

Many of the services a live DISH agent can offer on the phone you can also handle online via the MyDISH page. After logging in to your account, you can do any of the following:

  • View your account summary
  • Pay your bill
  • Order Pay-per-View or On Demand
  • View your appointments
  • Manage your equipment
  • Program your remote

Canceling DISH Service

If you wish to cancel your DISH service, they offer you several options. If you still want to cancel your service, though, call 1-888-283-2309. Please note that if you are in the middle of your 2-year contract, you may owe a fee equal to $20 per month remaining in your contract.

Other Ways to Contact DISH

In addition to the 24/7 technical support and general customer service phone/chat options, DISH offers a few other ways to get in touch with them:

  • Visit their support site: On this site, you can type in keywords to get answers to general questions, such as "Why do I have a snowy screen?" or "How do I program my remote to my TV?" You'll be redirected to an article or video provided by DISH that may answer your question without the need to call support. You can also use the links on the left-hand side of the site to go directly to the category or issue you are experiencing.

  • MyDISH Communities: If you like to connect with other DISH subscribers, join the DISH community. You can view questions asked by other subscribers or ask your own question. As you become a seasoned customer, you can even answer questions to help other subscribers if you feel so inclined.

  • Facebook: Follow DISH on Facebook for programming updates and other tidbits from DISH. You can also direct message customer service via Facebook messenger for another way to get in touch with customer service.

  • Twitter: On DISH Answers, the DISH social media team answers your tweets between the hours of 6 AM - 10 PM MT.
