Your website's job is to generate leads. A sales funnel serves as your blueprint for nurturing those leads as they move through the buyer's journey.

While the concept is simple, the building and implementation of a sales funnel can be quite complex. You need to create landing pages and offers for prospects at every stage in the journey—speaking to pain points and making the case for your solution.

ClickFunnels is a tool designed to help marketers and small businesses create sales funnels.

Read the full review to find out if ClickFunnels makes sense for your business.

What Is ClickFunnels?

ClickFunnels is a funnel builder and page editor that comes with a few extras aimed at helping users convert and retain customers. It allows you to build and customize funnels by industry and stage in the buying cycle.

Within a few clicks, you'll be able to whip up a handful of landing pages and ads that connect with your target audience from the consideration stage right through the point of conversion.

The main goal of ClickFunnels is to help businesses build sales and marketing funnels, simplifying the selling and promotion of their goods and services.

The platform automates the process of setting up the myriad landing pages, website hosting, and autoresponders that go into creating a sales funnel. This way, you don't have to hire multiple people to take care of business.

ClickFunnels is best for those companies that have a product to sell. But the six funnels that come with the platform work for a variety of product types.

Here are the main features you'll get with ClickFunnels:

  • Drag-and-drop editor
  • One-click upsells
  • Member pages
  • Order forms
  • Smart segmentation
  • Email and Facebook marketing automation
  • Six funnels geared toward different goals
  • Actionetics tool—an add-on feature that handles autoresponders, push notifications, automation, and Facebook messenger bots
  • Backpack affiliate software (Etison plan only)

Why We Like ClickFunnels

Here are some of the ClickFunnel's best features:

  • Drag-and-drop page editor: ClickFunnels comes with a decent landing page builder you can use to create opt-in forms and landing pages that work with each phase in your sales funnel.

All forms are mobile-optimized, and the editor guides you through the process quickly. You'll be able to put together an attractive funnel, even if you're working from an unreliable Wi-Fi connection.

  • Pre-made funnels: The pre-made funnels included in the tool make this complicated process a whole lot easier. ClickFunnels has templates made for authors launching books, promoting webinars, ecommerce platforms, and product launches, among other uses.

  • A/B test every page in your funnel: The platform comes with a split-testing feature, so you can easily see which landing pages and headlines are moving your prospects closer to the customer designation.

  • Accept payment through Stripe and PayPal: ClickFunnels is ideal for the ecommerce provider or a professional services operation. Add in the option to make a purchase at the right point in the sales cycle, and you're bound to see an increase in sales.

  • Integrates with other marketing tools: ClickFunnels integrates with other marketing platforms like ConvertKit, Drip, and MailChimp, so you can connect your existing marketing tools for a more robust stack.

Why You Might Look Elsewhere

ClickFunnels does have some drawbacks. Here are a few:

  • Adding a funnel is SLOW: After choosing a funnel and a template, you'll need to assign it to an account. This process is a matter of clicking a couple of buttons, but there's a notable lag. It's not the end of the world, but it's definitely an inconvenience.

  • Funnels have limits: ClickFunnels limits you to 20 funnels across 100 pages and 20,000 visitors—for the cheapest plan. That's not a bad deal, but sometimes these limits make it difficult for growing companies to choose a plan.

  • Difficult to learn: ClickFunnels is marketed as the perfect tool for people who don't want to code or work with multiple tools. For that reason, we expected something more user-friendly.

Curious how much ClickFunnels costs? We break down the plans next.

Pricing Plans

ClickFunnels has changed their pricing structure over the past few years. These days, they offer two options. The more expensive version eliminates the caps on how many funnels you can create and the number of visitors it tracks.

Here's what you'll get with each plan:

  • Standard, $97 per Month
The lower-priced ClickFunnels plan is $97 per month. With it, you'll gain access to all of the funnel creation tools, but you're limited by number of visitors, funnels, and pages. Again, you can create just 20 funnels, analyze 100 pages, and track 20,000 visitors on their buyer's journey.

You also won't get access to the Actionetics feature, the built-in email provider, or Backpack, a tool that allows you to create an affiliate program directly from the platform.

With that in mind, this plan makes sense for a business with a fairly healthy website. You might use this to better organize how you relate to users at every stage. But the plan isn't for those who have multiple websites or do affiliate marketing.

  • Etison Suite, $297 per Month
The Etison Suite is the upgraded version of ClickFunnels. You'll get unlimited everything—plus Backpack and Actionetics access. This plan comes with a more advanced editing tool, plus the ability to create automations and join the affiliate program.

You can try the plan for free with their 14-day trial, so try it to see if it actually makes sense for your business.

See how ClickFunnels stacks up against the competition below.

How It Compares

ClickFunnels vs. Leadpages
Leadpages is primarily used for building landing pages. The platform doesn't come with a sales funnel builder. Plus, you'll only be able to accept payments through your pages with the more expensive plans.

The drag-and-drop builder is about the same with both tools. Both provide an accessible editing experience, but you don't get to customize your pages as much as some users would prefer.

Leadpages is an ideal alternative to ClickFunnels for sites less focused on selling and more focused on collecting emails.

ClickFunnels vs. Builderall
Builderall is a marketing platform that aims to be an all-in-one platform. In it, you can design sales pages, landing pages, and even build your website. Like ClickFunnels, Builderall allows you to create sales funnels.

Additionally, Builderall has a really extensive editing tool you can use to do more than build landing pages. Use the editor to edit videos and really customize your pages. It also comes with over 1,000 templates, so this is a good option for those without a background in coding.

ClickFunnels doesn't have everything that Builderall does, but it's easier to use. Still, the slightly steeper learning curve might be a small price to pay for heat maps, editing, and beyond.

ClickFunnels vs. Infusionsoft
ClickFunnels and Infusionsoft share several features. But they also have some key differences.

ClickFunnels is an all-in-one tool that allows you to create sales funnels and the content that corresponds with each section in the funnel. You'll use ClickFunnels to create landing pages, manage sales, promote events, and split-test your pages.

Infusionsoft, by contrast, is a sales and marketing platform. You can still create landing pages and email marketing campaigns, and it comes with a CRM platform. Infusionsoft also lets you set up funnels, but it's a little more difficult to use.

ClickFunnels is great for smaller companies and solo marketers, whereas Infusionsoft is made for larger companies. As such, it's more powerful and more expensive.

Bottom Line

ClickFunnels works best for someone who has no desire or ability to code and doesn't want to waste time building multiple pages.

Everything you need to build funnels and capture leads is right there—and it's made for companies that sell a lot of products. It has some good stuff in there, too. The drag-and-drop builder is easy to use and creates attractive forms built to convert.

Overall, ClickFunnels is a pretty fantastic tool. The ability to build funnels from scratch and create corresponding content within the platform is really amazing—as sales funnels can trip up even more seasoned marketers.

The downside of an all-in-one platform is that it sometimes lacks the depth needed to drill down into different reporting features.
