Pros and Cons

  • No restrictions on travel
  • $60 annual fee

Bottom Line

Excellent rewards credit card for cardholders who like to travel

Rewards

Every time you make a purchase with Escape by Discover, you earn 2 miles for every dollar spent on this card.

You can redeem your reward miles for travel rewards like free flights, hotel nights, or car rentals.

When you redeem 10,000 miles, you get a $100 credit against travel expenses on your card. You can also redeem miles for cash. You can redeem 5,000 miles for $25 in cash. The redemption rate is better for travel expenses because this is a travel rewards card. Your miles never expire, so you can take as much time as you want to earn bonuses and cash back.

Flexible Travel

A great feature about this card is its flexibility for travel rewards. Many cards only offer bonuses for specific hotel chains or airlines. Escape by Discover lets you use your miles for virtually any travel-related expense.

You can book flights with any airline, rooms at any hotel chain, or vacations with any travel agency. The only requirement for claiming travel rewards is that the miles must be used expenses related to travel. If you use your miles against non-travel expenses, you receive the reduced cashback rate.

Plus, there is no foreign transaction fees with the Discover Escape credit card.

Introductory APR

This card offers an introductory APR of 0% on purchases and balance transfers for 6 months. After this period, Discover charges a variable APR between 10.99% and 19.99% on your card balance.

Pros

  • Earns miles on all your purchases. You earn 2 miles for every dollar spent on the card.
  • Redeems miles for travel rewards. No restrictions on travel - fly on any airline, book any hotel or car, with no blackout dates

Cons

  • $60 annual fee
  • Lower rewards rate for cash back than for travel rewards. We recommend you redeem for travel rewards.
  • Relatively short introductory APR period.

Bottom Line

Escape by Discover is a great card for someone looking to earn travel rewards with no hassles. You'll quickly rack up the miles as you get 2 miles for every dollar spent. You can use your reward miles for any type of travel expense.
