Tips and Tricks to Save Money at the Disney Store
The Disney Store is a mecca for Disney fans, featuring many exclusive and collectible items from your favorite Disney movies and characters. While many people find it easy to get sucked in and spend lots of money, Disney Store offers plenty of discounts to get the magical merchandise at a fraction of the price.
How to Get the Best Deals at the Disney Store
- Shop Tink’s Treasure Deal of the Week. Every week, a new item or category of item is put in Tink’s Treasure for a special weeklong deal. Discounts can be a certain price for all dolls, percentage discounts on all clothing, or buy one get one half off all toys.
- Price adjust. If an item you order goes on sale within seven days of your order, Disney Store will refund you the difference in the form of a gift card. You must request the price adjustment online or in store.
- Sign up for emails. Subscribe to Disney Store emails to get exclusive deals, announcements, and product news.
- Use the Disney Rewards Visa Card. Get approved for this credit card and you’ll get $50 back as a statement credit after your first purchase. You’ll also get a 10% discount on Disney Store purchases of $50 or more, reward points from most Disney purchases, and discounts and perks at Disney parks.
- Use a coupon code. Disney Store frequently has coupon codes available, typically for 15-30% off your entire order of a certain amount or a discount off a particular character or type of item.
- Buy more, save more. Vacation items, such as luggage and mouse hats, can be purchased online for a bulk rate. Buy items in groups of four, six, or eight to get a bulk discount. Buying four vacation items saves 10%, six items saves 20%, and eight items saves 30%.
- Shop outlets. If you live near one of the 49 outlet locations around the county, you can get even better deals. Outlet prices are discounted from normal Disney Store prices and often go lower for sales.
- Bundle items. Shipping costs are based on the total of your order, meaning you’ll spend more to ship more expensive orders. Save money by bundling multiple items into your order. It costs less to send one $60 order ($9.95 standard shipping) than to ship two $30 orders ($7.95 standard shipping per order). Disney Store frequently releases free shipping codes for orders over a certain amount.
- Reserve in store. Save on shipping costs by finding items online and reserving them in store for quick pick up. Not all items can be reserved in store, and there is a limit on three items reserved at a time.
When to Shop at the Disney Store
- Friends and Family sales. Typically held three times a year, Friends and Family weekends bring a coupon for 25% off your entire purchase. Sign up in store or watch your email to receive the coupon. Friends and Family sales usually happen in mid-February, July, and November.
- February. The annual baby sale runs for a few weeks in early February and features discounts of up to 40% on most baby items.
- Mid-May. Disney Store’s summer sale starts in mid-May and puts summer items like sandals and swimsuits on sale for up to 40% off.
- June and December. The storewide semi-annual sale is a way to clear out old and seasonal merchandise. Discounts are typically around 70%, and there is usually a free shipping code available.
- Mondays. New Tink’s Treasure weekly offers are released on Monday. Shop early to get the best selection on their great deals.
What to Buy at the Disney Store
- Resort tickets. Save time and money by purchasing your Disney park tickets beforehand at the Disney Store. You’ll receive a voucher to trade in for tickets at the park, meaning you’ll avoid the long lines and some of the extra fees.
- Vacation items. Many people purchase vacation items like hats and shirts while visiting a Disney park. It is much cheaper to buy vacation items at the Disney Store before your trip. The same items can be up to 30% cheaper than at the parks, even when not on sale.
- Collectibles. Quality collectible items like figurines and snow globes can rarely be found in places other than the Disney Store. These items occasionally go on sale and can be used with a coupon code.
- Personalized items. Disney Store online doesn’t charge to customize its products, so you can get official Disney gear like hats and shirts personalized for free. Similar services for lower quality products are much more expensive at other stores.
What Not to Buy at the Disney Store
- Movies. The Disney Store sells every Disney movie currently on the market, but the prices are much more expensive than those at big box or movie stores.
- Stationery. The Disney Store doesn’t have a large selection of notecards, notepads, and pens, and similar products can easily be found for much cheaper elsewhere.
- Shoes. Disney kids shoes tend to be more expensive at the Disney Store. They can be found much cheaper at a number of other stores and online retailers.
