Best Gas Credit Card Offers
If you want 2x points per $1 spent on gas, groceries, and utilities and $100 cash back after spending $1,000 on qualifying transactions in the first 90 days of account opening, consider the Barclaycard® Rewards MasterCard® (Excellent Credit). Plus, this card has no annual fee.
If you're not a Costco member but want 3% on gas, the Blue Cash Preferred® from American Express is worth a look. There is a $75 annual fee, but it offers 6% cash back at US supermarkets (up to $6k/year in purchases), 3% cash back at US gas stations and select US department stores; 1% on other purchases.
For Costco members, consider the TrueEarnings® Card from Costco and American Express, which offers 3% cash back at US gas stations, including on gasoline at Costco, for up to $4,000 per year in purchases, then 1% cash back. This card has no annual fee for Costco members.
If you don't want to pay an annual fee and spend most of your expenses on groceries and gas, consider the Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express. The card offers 3% cash back at US supermarkets (up to $6k/year in purchases), 2% cash back at US gas stations and select US department stores, and 1% cash back on all other eligible purchases. There is no annual fee.
If you don't pay your balance in full each month, consider a credit card with a low interest rate instead. Gas credit cards tend to have higher interest rates than low interest credit cards that don’t have rewards. If you do pay off your balance in full, then a gas credit card is a great way to earn rewards for your everyday purchases.
