Starwood hotels and resorts include many popular locations such as the Sheraton hotels, Westin hotels and Le Meridien. The Starwood Preferred Guest credit card also has bonus points options that work in conjunction with over 30 major airlines, an exceptional and unique benefit to card holders.

Selecting the Card

For card users looking to maximize their purchasing power, the Starwood Preferred Guest credit card has multiple rewarding benefits for card members. American Express offers the first year free and has only a $65 fee for each subsequent year. The majority of other credit cards offering similar benefits as the Starwood Preferred Guest card typically charge a significantly higher annual fee which should reassure a card member that American Express is offering the most value. Starwood Preferred Guest credit card members are also eligible for an annual 50% off any future Starwood hotel or resort stay. This rate is good for a stay of up to five nights for stays booked with your Starwood Preferred Guest credit card.

How to Earn Starpoints

Card members earn one Starpoint for every dollar of eligible spending. Starwood Preferred Guest credit card holders also begin earning points with their first card purchase which will reward members with 10,000 bonus Starpoints. With just a simple purchase, such as a stop for a favorite cup of coffee, a card member now has enough points for up to 3 free nights at a Starwood hotel or resort. Qualifying for a reward so quickly is nearly unheard of for credit card rewards programs. Most cards offering bonus rewards require an astronomically high balance before a card user can qualify for even the most basic reward.

Additional Card Holder Benefits

Starwood Preferred Guest credit card holders also enjoy the flexibility of being able to exchange Starpoints for travel miles with 30 airline partners. By transferring 20,000 Starpoints into travel miles, card holders will be eligible for 5,000 Starpoint bonus miles. Starwood Preferred Guest card holders also are eligible for an upgrade to Gold Preferred Guest status at Starwood hotels and resorts once $30,000 has been spent during a single calendar year. This is in addition to the Preferred Plus status that all card holders are eligible for which entitles members to late check out options or free room upgrades.

The Starwood Preferred Guest credit card offers an exclusive rewards program that enables card members quick access to rewards benefits. Additionally, with a low annual fee, preferred guest status upgrades and the option to transfer Starwood miles to any of 30 partnering airlines, card members have multiple opportunities to benefit from this unique American Express card program. If you are looking for a versatile, low maintenance, easy to use and high rewards card, the Starwood Preferred Guest credit card is the perfect option.
